New Zealand Wine Regions
Wine lovers delight! Thanks to the Australian – New Zealand travel bubble now is the perfect time to sample some of the worlds best wine in its home region. The South Island is home to the Marlborough and Nelson Tasman regions which offer some of the best wine touring experiences in New Zealand.
The Marlborough region is one of the most beautiful and bountiful parts of New Zealand, and it is the best place in the world for growing sauvignon blanc. Home to over thirty cellar doors all clustered around the town of Renwick in the Wairau Valley travellers don’t have to choose between where to go and what to taste. As well as producing sauvignon blanc the region also produces first-class pinot noir, chardonnay, aromatic wines and méthode traditionelle sparkling wines.
Where to Visit
Marlborough is a haven for food lovers, and home to farmers’ markets, artisan producers, food trails and regular food festivals. Quality restaurants will match your meal to local wines; some standouts include Brancott Estate, Rock Ferry Cellar Door & Cafe, Wairau River Wines and Allan Scott Winery. Many of the cellar doors and restaurants use locally sourced seasonal produce.

In the main town of Nelson is where you will find local favourite eateries including Hopgood’s & Co which serves a seasonally based menu or so sensational seafood be sure to visit the Cod and Lobster Brasserie.
